 ABOUT THE NATIONAL MILITARY INTELLIGENCE ASSOCIATION

 

What is the National Military Intelligence Association?

NMIA is a national association of intelligence professionals. NMIA was founded in 1973 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Members include military and civil service professionals actively engaged in military intelligence careers as well as reserve, former and retired intelligence personnel and U.S. citizens who have an interest in intelligence and support the vital role of military intelligence in safeguarding our nation's security.

 

What is NMIA's Purpose?

NMIA is dedicated to the support of U.S. security. NMIA seeks to stimulate awareness of the need for effective military intelligence as a critical component of national security. The Association also fosters activities and programs designed to enhance the theoretical and practical foundations of the intelligence "discipline,” and to contribute to the effectiveness of the intelligence professionals who are vital to the successful pursuit of the military intelligence mission of the Services and Agencies as well as thoseworking in military intelligence, other national security activities, homeland defense, law enforcement, and other fields

 

What Does NMIA Do?

• We publish articles of intelligence interest in the American Intelligence Journal and the NMIA Newsletter.

• We provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge between services, agencies, academia, industry, and the public.

• We sponsor and support intelligence symposia, intelligence historical collections, intelligence education and research.

• We provide focal points where members of the intelligence profession may meet socially and professionally.

• We recognize professional excellence by special awards.

• We sponsor a scholarship program for dependents of members and other qualified applicants.

• We keep members informed of legislative and other actions which impact upon our ability to perform our mission.

• We provide unofficial educational presentations to the public and legislators concerning the importance of military and other intelligence disciplines and organizations including counter-intelligence, homeland security and law enforcement to U.S. security.

 

Membership

Individual members of NMIA include military and civilian members of military and intelligence organizations, employees of corporations involved in national security, members of academia and the media, students, and interested citizens. We provide all our members a forum to learn more about the activities and contributions of military intelligence and opportunities to network at our events. We also solicit their views and recommendations concerning topics for upcoming publications and symposia and other thoughts on how best to serve military intelligence. We welcome all to join NMIA to enhance your knowledge of and contributions to the national military intelligence profession and other intelligence support to our armed forces and our nation.

 

NMIA is proud of and very grateful to our corporate members who lend great credibility to our organization and support many of our key activities. These companies form a very important part of our national security capabilities and we continue to work closely with them to find ways to advance our mutual interests and decide how we can best work together to ensure our nation maintains a military intelligence capability second to none.
